Laboratory technicians deepen their knowledge on elemental analysis of metallic materials at IK4-AZTERLAN

During the workshop an overview of elemental analysis has been performed, from sample drawing to resolving diverse applications.

Organized by IK4-AZTERLAN Metallurgy Research Centre and by the Tabira Foundry Institute with the collaboration of the company LECO (manufacturer of testing equipment), this technical workshop on “Elemental analysis of metallic samples” was held on April 11th at IK4-AZTERLAN facilities. Targeted at laboratory technicians, the meeting focused on the instrumental techniques that allow to determine the content of Carbon, Hydrogen, Sulfur and Nitrogen on samples of diverse nature, stable or unstable, in solid or liquid state.

By means of specific case studies and analytical procedures, the workshop has reviewed different aspects of the elemental analysis, such as the determination of diverse applications with Oxygen and Nitrogen analyzers, the elemental analysis of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, metallic sample drawing for their further analysis, or the carbon/water analysis in organic and inorganic samples.

The workshop has finished with a visit to the Chemical Laboratory of IK4-AZTERLAN, with high level capacities to perform advanced chemical analysis of metallic samples, equipped as well with several automatic elemental analyzers.

Presentation of Mr. Michael Jacob, Product Manager Europe of LECO, during the workshop.
