IK4 Research Alliance coordinates a technical workshop about joining technologies

Mr. Urko Uribe, coordinator of the Mechanical Testing Departament of IK4-AZTERLAN Metallurgy Research Centre, will make a technical presentation focused on key factors of high performance bolted joints. The workshop will be held on November 8th.

The joint between two or more components is one of the most common manufacturing processes and, at the same time, one of the most critical and delicate ones. To guarantee that the joint will work properly in the field of application and under operating conditions, following an optimized process that also ensures the technical and economical viability, is not always granted.

This complication is partly due to the increasing demand for products and applications that must operate under hostile conditions of any kind (such as environment, effort, chemical attack, operation cycle, extreme low temperatures …) as well as because of the need to diversify, reduce and cheapen raw materials and weight. In this scenario, the industry needs to know and evaluate the most appropriate joint solutions for their needs and reuqirements.

In order to discuss the different choices and application scenarios in the field of joining technologies, IK4 Research Alliance organizes the workshop, . Aimed at companies, universities, research centres and any other agents interested on knowing about the latest realities, trends and future challenges in this field (from a technical point of view), the event will gather the experience and the knowledge of organizations like AERNNOVA, AFM Cluster, GAIKER-IK4, IK4-LORTEK, IK4-TEKNIKER and IK4-AZTERLAN Metallurgy Research Centre.

The meeting will take place on November the 8th in the Bizkaia Scientific and Technology Park (Zamudio).
