The Spanish Association of Materials (SOCIEMAT) has held its XIV Congress of Materials in Gijon last 8th, 9th and 10th June with the participation of more than 300 researchers from universities and technological centers.
The working sessions have been focused on topics of fundamental research linked to strategic sectors such as nanomaterials, material and its recycling methods, corrosion, coating and surface treatments, ..… among others.
Both, Congress presentations and plenary sessions, have stood out for its quality and fine acceptance, where the last advances and scientific developments have been shared in different fields of knowledge related to the manufacturing and processing technologies of materials.
Susana Mendez, R+D of Metallurgical Processes of IK4-AZTERLAN researcher has shown the results of two relevant research works of the Center, included in the official Congress program.
The work “Superficial Modification of Cast Parts” classified in the topic of Coatings and Surface Treatments has developed and proved the opportunity to achieve chemically modified surfaces in “as-cast” state that confer innovative functionalities to casting components.
The second project “Resistance to the oxidation of new foundry qualities with 5% of Si” which has been developed in collaboration with the group CORPOMAT of CENIM, has been presented on the Corrosion topic. The features of new qualities of cast parts with high content of Si are a clear improvement opportunity in comparison with the materials used actually on the type of Si-Mo and Ni-resist for high temperature applications
Active participation of IK4-AZTERLAN in XIV National Congress of Materials.
