In the present study, an investigation is carried out in which the morphological changes of graphite particles due to the fading of magnesium (Mg) in iron castings with spheroidal graphite and its effect on the mechanical properties are analyzed. To do this, Y2 wedges were manufactured, using cast iron, at intervals of approximately 30 min. Of the manufactured wedges, the microstructures are analyzed to observe changes in the shape of the graphite and tensile and SPT tests are carried out to determine the mechanical properties of each material. Finally, the correlation parameters of the SPT test specific for this type of alloys are obtained and they are compared with correlation parameters already published.
