NEW MATERIALS

Atomized Ni-Ti3 powder

Ad-hoc metallic powders for developing protective surfaces.

Promoting the hybridization of manufacturing technologies.

The Ni-Ti3 metal powders designed and atomized by AZTERLAN have been developed to condition the surfaces of cast iron parts, providing them with an outer layer that enables the application of laser technologies (which are incompatible for direct application on castings) on their surface. In this way, the deposition layers can be customized to provide specific functionalities, such as anti-wear, anti-corrosion, etc.

Applied together with a binder in the cavity of the sand molds, the Ni-Ti3 powders react with the metal during the solidification process, creating an intermediate layer on the components that protects them from the high sensitivity to cracking associated with the thermal input of laser technologies on iron castings.

Re·Thinking Metallurgy

«Our work is aimed at mastering the physics and the chemistry that govern the behavior of metallic alloys, the phenomena that take place during manufacturing processes and the conditions that affect the useful life of metallic components.

We rethink metallurgy to develop more effective, efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes that favor the manufacture of components with enhanced properties and that open up new fields of application».
