New material
LIGHTALLOY STEEL
New family of lightweight sustainable steels.
- Patented technology
- Up to 10% lower density
- Assured mechanical properties
- Fit for serial industrial manufacturing
The steel components used in the steering systems of heavy vehicles are usually manufactured in medium alloy steel with densities of around 7.8 kgs/dm3 and which incorporate alloying elements that are scarce in nature (such as chromium, nickel, vanadium or molybdenum) and whose presence also contributes to making the price of the products more expensive.
The new LIGHTALLOY STEEL family of sustainable steels developed by AZTERLAN (protected by patent) comprehends the replacement of these elements and the addition of manganese and aluminum, promoting a significant reduction in the weight of the components, offering with density values of 7.0-7, 1 kgs/dm3 to get similar mechanical properties of those of currently marketed products.
This iinovative material can be manufactured on an industrial scale and is destined to occupy a predominant place in the manufacture of components for heavy vehicles (trucks, railways, etc.).
