Effect of cobalt on the mechanical properties of high silicon spheroidal graphite castings

In order to optimize the mechanical properties of spheroidal graphite cast iron, different alloying elements such as Nickel, Cobalt and Aluminum are being used. In this work, the influence of different Silicon and Cobalt contents on the mechanical and microstructural properties of the materials is analyzed.

To this end, the following methodology has been applied:

  • Nearly 45 samples with different percentages of Cobalt and Silicon have been developed.
  • Characterization tests have been carried out to evaluate the mechanical and microstructural properties of the samples.
