The physical properties of high carbon brake discs are strongly affected by the content of this element, including the ability to dissipate the thermal energy produced when the vehicle brakes. In the normal manufacturing process there is a decrease in the percentage of carbon compared to the initial one obtained in the oven. In the present study, the variables that influence its losses have been obtained. A mathematical model has been developed that allows to know in a precise way the percentage of this element from said variables. This fact enables its adaptation at all times without the need to carry out additional controls, with the consequent savings in cost and logistics, ensuring compliance with the material specification requirements.
