NEW MATERIAL
AL GRAY IRON
Gray cast iron with improved mechanical properties.
- Greater resistance with moderate hardness
- High thermal diffusivity
- No carbides
- Fit for serial industrial manufacturing
Although silicon is a widely used element in the manufacturing of gray cast iron (lamellar graphite casting) due to its graphitizing capacity, the increase of silicon content decreases the hardness and tensile strength of the material.
The new Gray Cast Iron material developed by AZTERLAN, in which silicon is replaced by aluminum, offers a notable improvement in the mechanical properties of the material, favoring the industrial manufacture of more advanced components (such as brake discs), without the need to introduce any other modifications in the casting process.
